She honed her skills under the mentorship of Martha Berry, a renowned Cherokee beadwork artist who has played a pivotal role in reviving traditional Cherokee and Southeastern beadwork.
Valerie is deeply passionate about creating traditional Cherokee beadwork and art. Her work extends to various forms of beadwork, jewelry making, and gourd art, where she skillfully blends traditional techniques with contemporary elements. For Valerie, creating art is a soulful process that reflects the essence of who she is as a person. Her work is a testament to her identity as a tribal citizen of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.
